Ijen
Crater
Ijen
Crater or KawahIjen is another volcanic tourism attraction in Indonesia. Ijen
Crater is a famous tourism object, which has been known by the domestic and
foreign tourist because of the beautiful and charming nature. It has 5466
hectares, 2386 meters high from the depth of the sea, with 92 hectares tourism
forest. Its temperature is between 2 to 8 degree centigrade and the crater area
lies 2386 meters above sea level. Inside the crater, many different color and
size of stones are found. Indeed, the crater of Ijen is beautiful garden of
stones as well. You will also see a magnificent turquoise sulphure lake that
exude flames, blue flames at night and smoky white in the day.
What
else can you see there? I’ll tell you more.
There
are many species of plants can be found there. For example, the edelweiss
flower and casuarina junghu( cemara gunung ). Various animals can also be seen in
the area are jungle fowl ( ayam hutan ) and porcupine.TheIjen Crater lies about
68 km from the town center. There are some of facilities here, such as a
campground, a shelter, and Tourist Information Center.
The
best time to enjoy Ijen Crater is at night and in the morning on June to
August. When the yellow sunlight glows the water and shines the surrounding
mountain. See the miners hard at work is also amazing. Morning haze is creating
tranquility that we don’t get at metropolitan towns. At 2 pm, the crater is
closed for the reason that the thick smoke from the crater is poisonous. So,
many travelers recommend to do the night hiking up to the Ijen Crater to see
the magical blue flames and walk around the Ijen Crater rim.
How
to reach Ijen Crater?
I’ll
tell you two alternatives route to reach Ijen Crater.
1st
is from Banyuwangi – Licin – Jambu – Patulding. Its about 38 km, but the road
is bad.
2nd
is from Bondowoso – Wonosari – Sempol – Patulding, about 70 km with a better
road.
Visiting
from Bondowoso route, the tourist will across a coffee plantation. It has
beautiful view either. The green of Arabica coffee trees are really an exciting
scene to enjoy.
East Java Traditional House, Joglo
Joglo
traditional house is one of traditional house in East Java. It’s finds a lot in
Ponorogo. Most of them, in Ponorogo, has two rooms, there are :
Front
room, or usually call pendopo, can be use to accept the guest, meeting room,
consist of bedrooms and kitchen or usually call pawon.
Main
room in Joglodevide into three rooms, there are left room or sentongkiwo,
middle room or sentongtengan, and right room or swntong tangent.
In
Joglo, generally before we enter to the main roo, we will pass a door who has
sulurgelung or makara ornament. This ornament is intended to refuse cruel
purpuse.
In
Java society, middle room is a sacred room. In this room, the owner usually
providetisur place or katil complete by bolster, pillow, and a comb from a
horn. This room also complete with a lamp who shining day and night and also a
carve who has a meaning as spiritual education.
On
the left side ( west ) there’s a dempil use for sleeping by old people and
connect with back veranda ( pasepen ), use to make a
handycraft.
On
the right side ( east ) there’s a kitchen, pendaringan, and a place to keep an
agricultural implements.
Because
of Joglo traditional house is one of our culture, we must keep it well.
